Occupational Blank

Interest piqued by this post at the Apron Stage today about balancing work and home and I got to thinking - what exactly am I? What would I fill in that blank on the myriad of forms that call for "Occupation"?

Stay-at-home-mom (or in cyber-type SAHM - of which I am not a fan, the acronym that is) doesn't fit the fill. You see, I don't really stay at home - who stays at home? And I don't do what most stay-at-home moms do (or at least, what I think they do).

Work-at-home-mom (or WAHM, an equally displeasing acronym) gets closer to the heart of the matter, but doesn't every mother work at home? And what about everything else that I do?

Career woman? Well, yes. Small-business owner? Assuredly. Mother? Undoubtedly.

But none of that fits in that little Occupation box. Then again, let's be honest, I'm not going to fit in any little box either. At least, not one. Maybe like a hundred or so, but even then the confines might just be too much.

So what am I? What is it that I do? That's still up in the balance I think. All except take one day at a time. That's a good occupational goal. One. Day. At. A. Time. And we'll see where that gets us tomorrow, eh?
