Family Adventure: Chicago

We flew to Chicago the first weekend in April. Jordan presented a paper at the Midwest Political Science Association Conference downtown. I went searching for a coat for Reagan to wear - yes, we did not own a coat for him. Sweaters, sure but no official coat. It took 7 stores, but then I found the perfect one on clearance. Also - we got a fabulous deal on a suite at the Marriott, ate at several wonderful places (yep, with kids) and had a lovely weekend exploring Chicago. In sum - we'll be back.

Highlights include:
Seeing the Cubs play at Wrigley Field (day two of opening weekend) is an item we can cross off Jordan's bucket list.  Also - Chicago Dogs (hot dogs with a pickle - who knew they could be so amazing?)

Making faces in "the Bean" and exploring Millennium Park.

Stumbling upon American Gothic and the mid-century modern furniture exhibit at the Art Institute.

Breakfast with friends at Lou's Diner (where the waitress told me I was about the eat the best donut of my life - she may very well have been right).

Touring the Skydeck at Willis Tower (formerly known as the Sears tower) and taking in the view of Chicago at night. Stepping out on the glass platform over the street was not so much a highlight since it made us so nervous, but upon post-deed reflection, we'll have to admit it was pretty cool.

Meandering the streets of downtown Chicago and oggling over all the fantastic architectural details.

Garrett's Popcorn, or more specifically the Chicago Mix at Garrett's Popcorn. Caramel popcorn + cheese popcorn. I know it sounds awful but was amazingly and surprisingly fantastically delicious. Also - very difficult to stop eating. Be warned.
