I'm All About The Deal

Reagan finally ran out of clothes to wear that a) were not hand-me-downs and b) were not gifts from one of three baby showers, two Christmases or one rockin' birthday party. I think, up until now, I can count on one hand the things I've actually paid money for. We've been well-supplied.

So this last week, I came face-to-face with a problem I had not yet encountered: no pants (for Reagan, that is). True, I hadn't done the laundry in a few days but surely it couldn't have been all that bad. He ended up wearing his pyjama bottoms all day. But he was fine with that.

Today, I decided to do something about it and visited my favorite thrift store aptly named Greatest Deal Thrift Store. What I didn't know is that Monday nights are a big to-do: 30% off your entire purchase. This would also explain why it was such a zoo and why we had to wait in line for-e-ver. Reagan ate all the cheerios and all the goldfish I could scrounge up in my purse. He colored on virtually every page in my notebook. He ate the eraser off the pencil (and yes, I made him spit it out). He stood up in the shopping cart seat (and I gasped so loudly that it startled him and he immediately sat down, contrite). He was ready to be done much sooner than we actally were.

We scored big time.
5 pairs of pants (including a pair of black church pants)
3 short sleeved shirts
3 sweaters
2 light coats (one a corduroy jacket from Old Navy)
1 pair pyjama bottoms
1 pair seriously retro navy shorts overalls. I think they were made in the 60s. Adorable.
1 paperback book (for Mommy)

Drum roll please.... $10.17
I know, I couldn't believe it either. Only way to shop kids, only way to shop.

Then again, I'm really just thinking of all the money I'm saving that I can later spend on a wa-zoo highchair. Reagan's getting a bit big for his booster seat (which we learned in a most unpleasant way this evening... we'll just say it caused a blow-out and leave it at that).
